The Mission of the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) is
- to define, maintain and provide access to the National Spatial
Reference System (NSRS)
to meet our nation's economic, social and environmental needs.
The NSRS is the official system of the federal government which
allows a user to determine latitude, longitude and height at any point
within the United States or its territories.
The NGS representative in Kentucky is
Ross Mackay. He is
responsible for furnishing technical advice and assistance for
statewide public and private geodetic activities, and promoting the
geodetic policy of the NGS.
